Former Reid & Hellyer Partner Jane Carney Appointed to California State University Board of Trustees

jane_carney.jpgReid & Hellyer is pleased to announce that one of its former partners (shareholders), Jane Carney, has been appointed by Governor Jerry Brown to the California State University Board of Trustees.

Carney was an associate and partner at Reid and Hellyer APC from 1981 to 1994. She went on to be a partner at Carney and Delany LLP from 1994 to 2007. Most recently, she shared a partnership in the law firm of Roth, Carney and Knudsen LLP from 2008 to 2010 with former Reid & Hellyer Partner Richard Roth, who is now a state senator. She practiced law in Riverside until retiring in 2010. She specialized in mergers and acquisitions, general business and corporate law.

As the Press-Enterprise reported, Carney, who has lived in Riverside since 1977, serves on a number of Southern California boards, including at UC Riverside’s School of Public Policy and the James Irvine Foundation. She was once named Citizen of the Year by the Greater Riverside Chambers of Commerce and Woman of the Year by the California State Senate. She also served for 12 years on the board of the South Coast Air Quality Management District. Carney also served on the Riverside Community College District’s Board of Trustees and was president of the Riverside County Bar Association.

Carney earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law. The position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem.
