Attorney Stanley A. Harter Quoted in Daily Journal Article on Real Estate Development
January 4, 2011
Reid & Hellyer Partner Stanley A. Harter was quoted on the front page of the Daily Journal and the Riverside Business Journal in an article on the new "green" building guidelines for new construction in California.
Starting on January 1, 2011, compliance with a new set of environmental guidelines is required for approval of all new buildings in California. The state's new CalGreen benchmarks attempt to reduce water consumption, reduce waste intended for landfills and requires the inspection of energy systems.
Stanley A. Harter, a real estate development attorney with Reid & Hellyer's Temecula office, was asked for his insight regarding the guidelines and their impact on California's real estate market.
"This will impact every building project, as opposed to just the ones that elected to go the green route," said Stanley A. Harter, a partner at Reid & Hellyer in Riverside whose practice includes real estate and land use. "It will increase costs across the board. It could result in projects not being built that would otherwise have been built, or being built in a very different manner."
Mr. Harter's experience with Business, Real Estate and Tax law provided the Daily Journal with an expert source in these various fields. As a planning commissioner for the City of Temecula, Stanley is in tune with the impact California regulations have on contractors and construction firms. As former Chair of the Temecula Valley Chamber of Commerce, he stays up-to-date with legislation and regulations impacting local businesses.
